Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Aldridge, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions can differ based on the vehicle type, with additional fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence suited to the vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. You must also present valid identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are necessary. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All pricing is in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed to document its state. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. If you anticipate a late return, contact us as soon as possible to avoid additional fees. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that occur during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All vehicle rentals come with basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to decrease your financial responsibility. It's important to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is obtained. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for unlawful purposes or activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other high-risk endeavors. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to unauthorized individuals or allowing unapproved drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly forbidden. Use of the vehicle must align with its intended purpose, and all passenger and weight limits must be adhered to. Driving outside of the specified geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Aldridge Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is capped at the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury arising from negligence or fraudulent conduct.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are subject to the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
Updates to Terms
Aldridge reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
